AEMT AI Chatbot Testing
AEMT AI Chatbot Testing
The AEMT, in collaboration with the BSI and UKRI's Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK, is developing a digital tool designed to assist electromechanical repair specialists in accessing relevant standards when repairing hazardous area motors. This tool, supported by some funding from Innovate UK, will present engineers with options, text, and paragraphs from multiple standards, enabling them to review comprehensive information to make informed decisions.
The tool will feature an easy-to-operate chatbot-style interface, allowing engineers to search for and retrieve detailed information from relevant standards quickly. By centralising this information, the chatbot aims to simplify the process of locating standards, reducing search time from hours to seconds.
It is important to note that the AI tool will not interpret standards, offer technical guidance, or make decisions on behalf of the user. Instead, it will provide relevant information in response to user queries, leaving compliance and safety decisions solely to the engineer.
Users of the system can ask questions about their repair tasks and receive comprehensive information drawn from applicable standards. The tool’s value lies in its ability to present a wider range of references efficiently, ensuring that engineers have access to all relevant standards to support their decision-making processes.
This initiative reflects AEMT's commitment to supporting engineers with tools that streamline access to standards, improve efficiency, and reduce errors through better-informed decisions.
On the 27th February 2025, AEMT members will have the opportunity to test the AI Chatbot.
We ask that any engineers who attend prepare questions to interrogate the system, focusing on the repair overhaul or reclamation of Ex d machines that are upto 25 years old.
The testing will be taking place at the BSI HQ in Chiswick.
We'd love to see you there!
